Planning Scheme Amendment
Planning Scheme Amendment for Floodplain Management

Central Highlands Regional Council

A bullet-proof planning scheme and whole of council catalyst for new standards in regional resilience.

Central Highlands Regional Council engaged Infinitum Partners to lead the strategic delivery of a major, region shaping planning scheme amendment that sought to improve the region’s floodplain land use and flood hazard management.

Infinitum Partners designed and led a highly successful, wholistic project process for an otherwise under-resourced council team, in a sensitive environment, delivering a sophisticated methodology that went over and above, plus a little more. The additional delivery of a new online, publicly accessible Flood Portal, creation of a regional resilience campaign spearheaded by the amendment, strong internal alignment, and translation of new, community specific flood data further supported a highly successful amendment process.

The end results? A more protected and prepared region, and a more informed community with evolved understanding and shared consensus around improved land use strategies. Most of all, Infinitum Partners’  work resulted in a strengthening of the broader business of planning for council – and the tools to sustain it – that supported new benchmarks in flood plain management across the region.
